Knee

Treatment Options

We offer a comprehensive range of knee treatments, from conservative management to advanced surgical interventions. Our approach emphasizes personalized care, tailoring treatment to your specific condition, activity level, and goals.

Knee Replacement

Total Knee Replacement (Arthroplasty) Complete joint replacement using the latest implant technologies and surgical techniques, including robotic assistance for enhanced precision.

Partial Knee Replacement (Hemiarthroplasty) Minimally invasive replacement of only the damaged portion of the knee, preserving healthy bone and tissue when possible.

Custom Implant Solutions Patient-specific implants are designed using advanced imaging and manufacturing techniques to optimize fit, function, and longevity for each patient.

Robotic Assisted Surgery

Our cutting-edge robotic-assisted knee replacement procedures provide unprecedented precision in implant positioning and alignment, supporting optimal outcomes and long-term joint longevity. Using the Mako SmartRobotics™ system from Stryker, our surgeons create a personalized surgical plan based on a detailed 3D scan of the knee. This advanced technology helps guide the procedure with exceptional accuracy, supporting a comfortable experience and smooth recovery.

Customized A 3D CT scan helps our surgeons understand the knee down to the smallest details so treatment is tailored specifically for each patient.

Precise surgery Mako’s smart technology helps our surgeons stay within the planned area, supporting accurate implant placement.

Less pain & faster recovery Many patients experience reduced pain and are able to return to daily activities quickly.

Protects healthy bone and tissue The system helps our surgeons remove only what’s necessary, preserving more of the natural knee.

Advanced Surgical Treatments

Knee Scope (Arthroscopy)  State-of-the-art minimally invasive procedures using advanced arthroscopic technology for diagnosis and treatment, resulting in smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery.

Meniscectomy Precise arthroscopic removal of damaged meniscus tissue while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible to maintain joint function.

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) Reconstruction Advanced reconstruction techniques using the latest graft options and fixation methods to restore knee stability and enable return to sports and activities.

PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) Reconstruction Specialized reconstruction procedures for posterior cruciate ligament injuries using sophisticated techniques and advanced implants.

MCL/LCL (Medial and Lateral Collateral Ligament) Repair Expert repair of medial and lateral collateral ligaments using both traditional and innovative techniques to restore knee stability.

MPFL (Medial Patellofemoral Ligament) Reconstruction Specialized procedure to stabilize the kneecap and prevent recurrent dislocation.

Specialized Procedures

Fracture Surgery Advanced surgical repair of knee fractures using specialized implants and techniques designed specifically for knee anatomy.

Advanced Cartilage Restoration Repairs damaged joint cartilage to relieve pain and restore mobility. Using state-of-the-art surgical and biologic techniques, our specialists help patients return to an active lifestyle with improved joint function and long-term results.

Non-Surgical Treatments

Specialized Physical Therapy Our physical therapists develop individualized rehabilitation programs focusing on knee-specific exercises to restore strength, flexibility, and function while addressing underlying movement patterns.

Precision Steroid Injections Targeted anti-inflammatory treatments delivered directly to affected areas, providing significant relief for conditions such as arthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis.

Other Injections Treatments that supplement the natural lubricating fluid in arthritic joints, providing significant pain relief and improved function.

Common Knee Conditions

Our knee specialists treat the full range of knee conditions, from sports injuries in young athletes to degenerative conditions affecting older adults. We provide expert care for both acute injuries and chronic conditions that impact your daily activities.

Degenerative and Inflammatory Conditions

Knee Arthritis Progressive joint disease causing pain, stiffness, and loss of function. We treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and post-traumatic arthritis with both conservative and surgical approaches.

Chondromalacia Patella Softening and breakdown of cartilage on the underside of the kneecap, causing anterior knee pain, especially when climbing stairs or sitting for extended periods.

Baker’s Cyst Fluid-filled swelling behind the knee that can cause pain and stiffness, often associated with underlying knee joint problems.

Osteochondritis Dissecans A condition where a piece of cartilage and underlying bone becomes loose within the joint, potentially causing pain, swelling, and mechanical symptoms.

IT (Iliotibial) Band Syndrome Occurs when the thick band of tissue running along the outside of the thigh becomes irritated or inflamed. This condition often causes pain on the outer knee or hip, especially during repetitive activities like running or cycling.

Meniscus and Ligament Injuries

Meniscus Tears Tears in the shock-absorbing cartilage discs that can occur from trauma or degenerative changes, causing pain, swelling, and mechanical symptoms like catching or locking.

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) Injuries Complete or partial tears of the ACL, commonly occurring in sports, can cause instability and require reconstruction for active individuals.

PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) Injuries Less common but significant injuries that can cause posterior knee pain and instability, often requiring specialized reconstruction techniques.

MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) Injuries Tears on the inner side of the knee that can range from minor sprains to complete ruptures requiring surgical repair.

LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament) Injuries Injuries to the outer knee ligament that can cause instability and may require specialized repair techniques.

Patellofemoral Conditions

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome Anterior knee pain related to problems with how the kneecap tracks over the femur during movement.

Patellar Tendinitis Inflammation of the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shinbone, commonly known as “jumper’s knee.”

Patellar Instability and Dislocation Conditions where the kneecap dislocates or feels unstable, often requiring specialized stabilization procedures.

Tendon and Bone Injuries

Quadriceps Tendon Tear Rupture of the tendon connecting the quadriceps muscle to the kneecap, requiring immediate surgical repair.

Patellar Tendon Tear Rupture of the tendon below the kneecap that requires prompt surgical intervention to restore function.

Knee Fracture Fractures of the bones around the knee joint, including the femur, tibia, or patella, ranging from simple breaks to complex injuries that may require advanced surgical repair.

Understanding Your Knee Anatomy

As your largest joint, your knee is critical to your mobility, from walking to playing your favorite sport. It acts as a hinge where your femur (thigh bone) and tibia (shin) meet, and is the most common site for injury among all your joints. In addition to your femur and tibia, the patella (kneecap) completes the bony structure of your knee joint. Ideally, the three bones glide smoothly against one another, thanks to two cartilage discs (medial and lateral menisci) that act as shock absorbers.

Along with the medial and lateral meniscus, your knee joint is stabilized by four ligaments: the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the lateral collateral ligament (LCL), the medial collateral ligament (MCL), and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). Injuries to these ligaments can cause severe disruption to your knee function and require treatment or surgery.

Knee injuries and wear over time can damage the structures that cushion and support the joint, leaving it vulnerable to pain, inflammation, and stiffness. These issues are a common reason patients seek treatment, including knee replacement surgery.
