Bringing Top Notch Education and Expertise to OHOW

Ryan Kehoe, MD, brings over 20 years of medical experience to the OHOW team. He’s beloved by patients and has received numerous awards and recognitions of his work.

He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree and residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001. Over the next 13 years, he continued to compete in soccer and work on the same athletes as a surgeon. Dr. Kehoe performed a fellowship in Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, AL. He worked with Dr. James Andrews, learning and refining advanced surgical techniques. He also learned important lessons on the care of injured patients and athletes. His love of athletics drew him to the field of medicine, and he’s found it to be the perfect fit.

A Shining Example of OHOW’s Three Critical Success Factors

At the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin, his passion for patient care has continued to exemplify our Three Critical Success Factors: Quality, Patient Satisfaction, and Staff Satisfaction. Dr. Kehoe brings all three factors to his job each day.

He demonstrates his dedication to quality of care by staying deeply involved in the orthopedic community with a lifelong reverence for learning. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He belongs to many professional organizations such as the American Medical Association, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association of America.

Equally important, he displays an extraordinary commitment to patient satisfaction, always putting the patients’ needs first. As one patient relates, “Doctor Kehoe did an awesome job on my surgery. He is very friendly, kind and shows a great deal of concern for his patients. Dr. Kehoe is one of the best doctors I’ve had.”

The enthusiasm for Dr. Kehoe also extends to the OHOW staff and his coworkers. As a member of the surgical team, he works closely with many members of the OHOW staff. He says, “I’m honored to work with tremendous partners, excellent support staff, and in the best orthopedic hospital environment one could ever ask for.”

Dr. Kehoe has been recognized in the healthcare field as being an exceptional surgeon. Most recently, he was named as one of Milwaukee Magazine’s Top Doctors for 2020. He has also been on Castle Connolly’s Top Doctor list since 2016 and received the On-Time Doctor Award, Patients’ Choice Award,  and Compassionate Doctor Recognition from Vitals.

Dr. Kehoe’s Philosophy of Care

“I always strive to treat my patients as I would a member of my own family.  My goal is to give my patients as much information and understanding of the treatment options available to make the best decision on a solution to their orthopedic problems together.  If my patients aren’t happy with their outcome, neither am I,” relates Dr. Kehoe.

This unparalleled approach to patient satisfaction showcases why so many of his patients praise his work. One patient enthusiastically shared, “Not only is the Orthopaedic Hospital of WI amazing, but Dr. Ryan Kehoe is also an amazing surgeon. He is very thorough, and he is super nice. He cares deeply for his patients. I would totally recommend him to others. (In fact, I already did. My friend had both her knees done.) I cannot speak more highly of Dr. Kehoe! He’s a wonderful, wonderful doctor.”

With a strong dedication to patient outcomes, Ryan Kehoe, MD, aims to take care of patients who can’t do what they love due to orthopedic problems. He brings his sports medicine background and applies it to all patients to help ensure a rapid, healthy recovery with minimal invasiveness.

“My goal is to return patients to the highest level of function possible,” says Dr. Kehoe. By listening to those in his care and working on an approach that fits their needs, he is able to do just that.

Dr. Kehoe Has Built a Lifelong Passion for Orthopedic Care

Growing up as an athlete and sports-lover himself, Dr. Kehoe has a unique empathy for his patients, especially those sidelined by injury. In his younger years, he competed in track, basketball, and soccer. He continued playing soccer throughout college as part of the 1995 NCAA Division I championship team. As Dr. Kehoe shares, “Lessons learned through competition have been extremely valuable to my career as an orthopedic surgeon.”

In his career, he also draws on life lessons he gained working on cars alongside his father, a hobbyist racecar driver. Thanks to an early dedication to fixing things, he learned to think on the fly and problem solve in a time-sensitive environment. These personal discoveries continue to fuel his passion for orthopedic surgery and patient care today.

“I consider myself extremely lucky to do the job that I do, with the people that I do, in the places that I do.” The Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin also considers themselves lucky to have Ryan Kehoe, MD as an integral member of our surgical staff.

Dr. Kehoe sees new patients at his office at Aspen Orthopedic Specialists in their Brookfield, and New Berlin and Oak Creek locations.
